Xander Mom: Mira Naidu

Meet mom, blogger and telecommunications expert, Mira. She talks to us about her blog, her family, technology and parenting.

Tell us about yourself?

I am Mira Naidu, mum to a very busy almost two year old Keshav. I work in the telecommunications industry by day and blog in the evenings. I love visiting new places and trying new things. I love yoga, writing and reading and consider myself to be a bit of foodie.

Tell us about your blog?

I am parenting and lifestyle blogger at Real Life Mum. This is a personal blog filled with everything that relates to parenting and my life. Basically a documentation of my life as a modern, working mum and personal stories of our adventures and travels. I also love chatting about some of our favourite products and I absolutely love hosting giveaways. I really want my blog to be an interactive platform where I can connect with my readers. I absolutely love posting photos to Instagram where I microblog.

How do you feel about using technology as part of learning?

Technology is everywhere, entwined in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun too. However, as a parent I am also very wary of the content my child is exposed to, how much screen time he is exposed to daily and creating that balance in life.

What are your kids favourite apps?

For now he enjoys YouTube Kids, and singing along with Dave & Ava.

What do you love about South Africa and raising your children here?

I love South Africa, we may not have a perfect country but it’s certainly beautiful. Raising my child here has been great, he loves the outdoors and we enjoy a lot of time in the parks and enjoying nature.

TV “Yes” or “No”?

Yes, and in moderation as well as age appropriate.

What is in the lunchbox?

Sandwiches with last night’s leftovers plus fruit and yogurt.

How do you balance it all – in one sentence?

Planning and time management is key to managing “The Juggle”.

Do you children do chores at home, if so what and how do you manage it?

Not as yet. But I will be teaching him soon.

What is your favourite holiday plans/ activities with kids?

We love beach holidays and the outdoors. It’s the best time relax and spend quality time together.

Catch up with Mira on her blog here as well as on social media on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
