Tell us about yourself?
Hi! My name is Terence and I run a Facebook Page and YouTube channel called AfroDaddy.
Tell us about your blog/ vlog?
I started the vlog when I became a dad and realised that there were hardly any dads on the internet talking about their experiences – especially when compared to the amount of mommy blogs out there! So AfroDaddy is place to get a dad’s perspective on parenting. But it’s not just for dads! It’s for everyone who wants to share and offer help and advice with other parents.
How do you feel about using technology as part of learning?
We live in the technological age – so we’d be doing our kids a disservice from NOT using technology in their learning.
What are your kid’s favourite apps?
They are little bit too young to use our phones without breaking them…so the YouTube app is probably the most use (with a LOT of mommy and daddy supervision).
What do you love about South Africa and raising your children here?
My family is really diverse…we take the idea of “mixed-race” to another level. So I love the fact that it’s possible for both my boys to see great people who look like them in this country.
TV “Yes” or “No”?
I wish I could say no…but parenting is really hard sometimes so it’ll have to be yes!
What is in the lunchbox?
Jam sandwiches, yogurt, some fruit, a bottle of watered down juice
How do you balance it all – in one sentence?
I’ve learned that you have to lose your pride and should be ready to ask for help often!
Do you children do chores at home, if so what and how do you manage it?
I wish! Getting two toddlers to pick up more than one toy before getting distracted is near on impossible.
What is your favourite holiday plans/ activities with kids?
- We love going anywhere that has the following:
- Pool with proper fencing
- Large yard
- Trampoline
- Near a bunch
