Meet Xander Mom Melissa Delacroix from George. She spoke to us about her blog, parenting and her growing family.
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Melissa, I am 27 years old and live in the lovely town of George. I am a busy mom and currently 27 weeks pregnant with my second daughter. I fill my days with a combination of accounting work, mom duties and my blog and social media pages.
Tell us about your blog?
My blog is my little creative space on the Internet and I am constantly working on it! I write a good balance between beauty and parenting posts and love featuring beautiful and inspiring products.
How do you feel about using technology as part of learning?
Technology is here to stay and we should definitely embrace it. I do believe in good old fashioned learning but it is so important to incorporate technology so our children can grow up knowing how things work.
What are your kids favourite apps?
Anything with a sing-along song, puzzles, colouring in and stories.
What do you love about South Africa and raising your children here?
The culture and all of the beautiful outdoor activities to do. We live in George and the Garden Route has an endless supply of outdoor beauty and fun.
Suppertime tips for parents with young children?
Don’t over stress it! Things are messy and never perfect, my daughter tends to eat the opposite of what I want her to. Healthy finger snacks are a lifesaver.
TV “Yes” or “No”?
Yes but not too much of it. Kids are way more creative when they are doing something more interactive. My daughter gets to watch some cartoons in the late afternoon while I run around like a mad thing with cooking and cleaning.
What is in the lunchbox?
Fruit, yoghurt and Provitas.
How do you balance it all – in one sentence?
I take it as it comes! Planning definitely does help but I often just deal with life day by day because the unexpected always happens!
Do you children do chores at home, if so what and how do you manage it?
My 3 year old daughter has just started with learning to pick up her toys, throw away dirt and take her plate to the kitchen. I remind her to do these as I see the mess happening.
What is your favourite holiday plans/ activities with kids?
For winter it is difficult for outdoor fun so we are dealing with indoor activities like puzzles, board games, colouring in and when the weather is good we will take the fun outside.
