Tell us about yourself?
Hi! I’m Lisa. Also known as ‘Mommy’ to a bubbly two-year-old little girl and partner to a cricket playing lawyer-to-be, both who I absolutely adore. When we aren’t cheering Chad on alongside the cricket field or watching Moana for the second time that day, I’m a Social Media Producer and writer at one of the best advertising agencies in Cape Town (No bias here. Promise).
Tell us about your blog
I started my blog, The Chronicles of Baby Cassidy, a few when my maternity leave ended. I was going back to work after being with Cassidy for three months and suffering post-natal depression. Not many of my friends were moms at that time and I felt alone in my struggle. It was a very difficult time for my family and I’d always found that writing was the best way to deal with everything I was going through. I wasn’t really a diary person, but I took a chance and started the blog. Because writing down your feelings for the world to see is so normal, right? I never regretted it though. So many people resonated with what I was saying and my circle increased. I got to know people I could relate to and who in turn, could relate to me.
How do you feel about using technology as part of learning?
I am not opposed to it at all, as long as children don’t lose basic manners. In this day and age, it’s scary that so many young children turn to and depend on the unhealthy side of technology. But I do find that educational apps are wonderful. Cassidy can tell us the alphabet, name the days of the week and have a full on conversation. Her logical skills have blossomed thanks to technology that has a purpose.
What are your kid’s favourite apps?
At present, anything that is related to numbers, sounds, and letters. She loves an app where she has choose the correct balloon to burst based on the sound of the animal.
What do you love about South Africa and raising your children here?
South Africa has a diverse culture and heritage and this teaches us to have tolerance and respect for those around us. I feel that we are blessed to live in Cape Town in particular. There is never a lack of choice when it comes to activities. And you don’t need to board a plane for a getaway.

What is in the lunchbox?
Cassy: Viennas, bread, Oros Ice tea, water, grapes, cucumber, yoghurt, and orange.
Mine: I never have time to pack one.
How do you balance it all – in one sentence?
I take each day at a time, I cut myself slack and I always have a bottle of wine available in the fridge.
Do you children do chores at home, if so what and how do you manage it?
Cassidy is still quite young, but I am teaching her the importance of picking up after yourself. It’s perfectly fine for her to play and mess, but it is not okay to leave it there and expect someone else to clean up after you. She gets quite a kick out of “washing the dishes” with us.
What is your favourite holiday plans/ activities with kids?
We LOVE the outdoors! Going for long drives and visiting the beach. When it’s chilly, we opt for indoor play areas. Holiday plans include packing up, piling into a car and going away. Langebaan and Betty’s Bay have become our firm family favourites. As long as there is sand and water to tickle Cassy’s toes and conditions Chad finds fitting for fishing, my family are living their best lives.
