Let’s think of our problems as opportunities – Helen Zille
The Bandwidth Barn has recently launched The Barn Khayelitsha as a community-based incubator which focuses on areas in which there is a market need and an opportunity for growth. This building will provide much-needed business services and infrastructure to targeted communities, and offer a friendly receptionist, 24 hour access, internet access, meeting rooms, office space, and additional office services where needed.
The Tribage team, of which Xander Apps form a part, was invited to the launch of the new Barn in Khayelitsha on the 18th of March this year. The building was officially opened by the Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille. Ms Zille gave an inspirational talk on the power of finding solutions instead of seeing problems in solving the technological and socio-economic issues of the Western Cape, and South Africa as a whole. “Let’s think of our problems as opportunities”, she said.
There was an impressive range of speakers at the event, including Ian Merrington: CEO of CiTi, Bulelwa Basse: Poet and Motivational Speaker, Nomvuyo Mofoko: Khayelitsha Ward Councillor Subcouncil 10, Mr Ndithini Tyhdi: Khayelitsha Development Forum Chairperson, Luvuyo Rani: Owner and Founder of Silulo Ulotho Technologies, Alan Winde: MEC of Economic Opportunities, and Councillor Gareth Bloor and women from Girl Hype and the Women in Business initiative.
